The Roaster

Chris Weber, Roast Master for Rex Roasting Co., is always in pursuit of fine and unique coffees.   Since 2003, he has been on the coffee trail, looking for the next perfect cup.  Now that he is roasting and sourcing coffee for Rex Roasting Co., Chris is bringing his expertise and experience to the Clabber Girl family.  Since arriving in November 2009, Chris has reformulated all of the Rex blends, including the original Rex; more closely replicating the blend offered until 1968 when coffee operations for Hulman & Co. ceased.  Once again high-quality single origin coffees are sourced from the most reputable importers around the globe.

Blending history and progress, Terre Haute now has a local source for specialty grade coffee, roasted in small batches in the historic Hulman building.  In addition to roasting, Chris has been a barista, retail manager, trainer, and peer competitor.  He was a finalist at the 2009 Midwest Barista Competition, taking 3rd place, and a Semi-finalist in the 2009 United States Barista Competition, placing 19th overall.  He also took 2nd place in the 2005 Midwest Millrock Latte Art Competition in Chicago.
